Wolf Lubricants leads with API SQ and ILSAC GF-7 Certified Engine Oils

Wolf Lubricants is among the first in the aftermarket to upgrade to API SQ, the latest engine oil service category from the American Petroleum Institute (API). Two of our premium engine oils—OFFICIALTECH 5W30 C3 LL III and OFFICIALTECH 0W20 LS-FE—are already officially licensed under this new API SQ standard.
API SQ: New Benchmark in Engine Oil Standards
The API SQ category supersedes the previous API SP category and sets a new benchmark for engine oil performance. Developed to meet the evolving demands of modern engines—particularly turbocharged gasoline direct injection (TGDI) systems—API SQ includes enhancements in several critical areas:
- Increased protection against LSPI (low-speed pre-ignition)
- Improved timing chain wear control
- Better emission system compatibility
- Enhanced engine cleanliness
- Greater oxidation and temperature resistance
- Improved fuel economy and reduced emissions
Where applicable, API SQ also includes the shift from ILSAC GF-6 to ILSAC GF-7, further strengthening requirements for engine protection and performance.
Leading with Technological Readiness
Wolf Lubricants is proud to be at the forefront of this transition. By quickly obtaining the API SQ license for OFFICIALTECH 5W30 C3 LL III and OFFICIALTECH 0W20 LS-FE, we’re ensuring that our partners in the aftermarket have easy access to lubricants that meet the most advanced industry requirements.
These two engine oils represent broad market coverage across two of the most popular modern viscosity grades. Furthermore, additional premium oils have already been submitted for API SQ licensing, reinforcing Wolf’s commitment to high quality, technological leadership and continuous innovation.
“The introduction of the new API SQ service category represents an important industry benchmark. We are pleased to already offer our aftermarket partners two technologically advanced engine oils that meet this standard. Wolf Lubricants continues to lead the sector in responding to the demands of modern engines, evolving precise formulations to meet the industry’s leading standards.”
