Powered By Precision: Motorsport Triumphs On The 2024 Rally Season
Wolf Lubricants has long-standing partnerships with the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) and the FIA Junior World Rally Championship (JWRC). These collaborations are powered by precision, highlighting the drive, determination, and capability of Wolf on the global stage. Today, we reflect on the 2024 season and what it meant for Wolf Lubricants.
WRC: Neuville’s First World Title in a High-Stakes Season
The 2024 World Rally Championship was a season of career-defining moments and incredible racing. It was the start of a new points system that meant performance in each rally stage was critical, with greater point-scoring opportunities for all contenders. Really, though, the theme of 2024 was the story of fellow Belgian Thierry Neuville.
After years of near misses, Neuville (and co-driver Martijn Wydaeghe) secured the WRC title. A dramatic end to the season in Rally Japan saw his rival and Hyundai teammate, Ott Tänak, crash out. While Hyundai World Rally Team’s performance was strong, Toyota Gazoo Racing WRT claimed the manufacturers' championship by just three points! This was largely thanks to the efforts of Elfyn Evans and Sébastien Ogier, strong competitors until the end – a sign that the ‘fight’ is never over, until it’s over.
Unlock the Power Stage
To celebrate those chasing the perfect finale, we support the Wolf Power Stage – the final stage of each WRC rally event. The top five fastest drivers on the day earn bonus points regardless of their overall position. This incentive has seen some spectacular driving as competitors give their all in the final moments. In 2024, Thierry Neuville dominated the Wolf Power Stage with a total of 45 awards, closely followed by Ott Tänak with 35. For the manufacturers, Hyundai earned a total of 88 Power Stage points while Toyota followed closely with 72.

JWRC: Standout Performances see Jürgenson Breakthrough
The racing was just as exciting in the Junior WRC, with the five-rally calendar showcasing future stars with five different winners. JWRC raced across Sweden, Croatia, Italy, Finland, and Greece with all drivers in identical Ford Fiesta Rally3 racecars. In the end, standout podium performances in Sweden, Croatia, and Greece secured Romet Jürgenson (and co-driver Siim Oja) the Championship. Victory saw him step up to WRC2 for the 2025 season – a critical progression in his rally career. Honourable mentions go to Australia's Taylor Gill, who made history with a breakthrough win at Rally Finland, and to Norbert Maior from Romania, who climbed from seventh to second in the final standings with a clutch win at the double-points season finale in Greece.
A Pioneering Partnership: From Rally Stage to the Road️
The partnership between Wolf Lubricants and the WRC is based on shared values, including precision, connectedness, determination, and teamwork. Our work with the JWRC enables us to drive performance innovation and develop exceptional lubricant solutions for the challenging conditions of rally racing and test them live, in front of the world.
Two-time World Rally Champion and Wolf brand ambassador, Marcus Grönholm, knows that in rallying, performance is everything. That’s why he trusts Wolf to deliver lubricants that keep engines protected, efficient, and powerful – no matter how tough the conditions.
Whether racing in sub-zero temperatures through Sweden or the scorching heat of Greece, the demanding conditions of the JWRC push lubricants to the limit – an ideal proving ground. We don’t confine these critical insights to the rally stage, either. These innovations soon find their way into Wolf’s precisely formulated passenger car products, bringing technology from the rally stage to the road and ensuring that everyday drivers benefit from racing-level lubricants. Through our JWRC technical partnership, our formulations prove their reliability before finding their way into passenger cars worldwide. This fueled the creation of the cutting-edge WOLF RACING LINE - high-performance lubricants brought from race to road.
