In good hands: Wolf makes gains in Heavy Duty segment with new role

Wolf Oil Corporation is targeting growth for its extensive range of innovative HD sector engine oils and fluids following the appointment of Elvic Mottelay to Global HD Sales Manager.

Elvic brings nearly 26 years of experience, harnessing his expertise to expand the HD offering of one of Europe’s largest independent lubricant manufacturers

Let’s find out more about Wolf’s exciting plans for the HD market from Elvic:

You’ve worked at some of the world’s largest lubricant producers, why the move to Wolf?

They were very large companies and after more than two decades it was time for a change. It sounded like a fantastic opportunity to apply everything I had learned to build something new. I also thought it was an interesting challenge, to work in an incredibly agile and dynamic organization, making the most of opportunities for growth in a key sector.

Most importantly, I could see that Wolf moved quickly and understood the importance of R&D investing – that gave me confidence that the business would evolve to anticipate HD market trends and respond to these changes quickly.

You will be in charge of global Heavy Duty sales, where does Wolf stand at the moment?

Currently, around 20% of our total business is in HD. My intention is to further increase focus and investment in developing HD solutions for both on- and off-road. We have recently finalized our three-year HD roadmap that is centered around people, product innovations, and new marketing tools to accelerate growth.

When it comes to products, we are taking a close look at our portfolio and working to update products to the latest OEM standards, futureproofing them for our end users.

So, this 3-year roadmap, what exactly does it involve?

We intend to double this fraction of our business by 2025. I am confident that we can achieve it because we have been investing in the right people, the right network, right products and making the most of training and marketing opportunities.

Would you be able to go into a bit more detail on some of these areas?

Of course! We are further strengthening our HD team that combines business and technical expertis. For both on- and off-road HD, we have a fantastic network of distributors and close ties with leading OEMs – this all means that we can address market challenges quickly.

When it comes to products, we are taking a close look at our portfolio and working to update products to the latest OEM standards, futureproofing them for our end users. We are providing solutions for the latest market demands like improved fuel efficiency, reduced emissions, extended oil drain intervals with the technical cost of ownership reduction (TCO), and new environmental legislation.

Additionally, we are looking into EV fluids for HD applications and bio-based lubricants for HD on-road and off-road applications. There is also a chance that we will diversify our HD offering, using our extensive expertise to develop hydraulic products, for example.

For training and marketing, we have a strong program in place. We believe that our tools and marketing support can further support our HD partners and make them experts in the field. We are also working on new services that will be presented at a later stage for our partners!
