OFFICIALTECH 5W30 C3 oil receives Mercedes-Benz MB 229.52 Approval

With the addition of the newest MB 229.52 specification, the Wolf OFFICIALTECH 5W30 C3 becomes one of Wolf’s most complete engine oils for cars, both gasoline and diesel.

Products

Mercedes-Benz has developed the MB 229.52 specification for breakthrough oils that can face the most severe thermal constraints, and are compatible with most modern aftertreatment systems.

What does the MB 229.52 specification entail?

The MB 229.52 specification applies to all Mercedes vehicles equipped with “BlueTEC” diesel engines. These are fitted with SCR (Selective Catalyst Reduction) allowing NOx treatment through the use of the AdBlue. More specifically, it concerns the newest 6-cylinder diesel engine OM642 (BLUETEC) with Euro 6 exhaust gas norm.

This new specification also requires improved cold flow properties to reduce friction. This extra requirement for cold flow properties allows excellent oil flow at start up, faster oil pressure build up, the faster raising of revs and the faster reaching of the operating temperature. This type of lubricant allows fuel consumption reduction and therefore reduces greenhouse gas (CO2) emissions.

How the OFFICIALTECH 5W30 C3 engine oil meets the MB 229.52 specification?

The OFFICIALTECH 5W30 C3 has a low volatility. This means reduced oil consumption and outstanding oxidation resistance, which ensures extended oil drain intervals set by the car manufacturer.

As it also meets the BMW LONGLIFE-04, GM Dexos 2 and VW 502 00/505 00/505 01 specifications, the OFFICIALTECH 5W30 C3 is one of the most technologically advanced lubricants on the market.
OFFICIALTECH 5W30 C3 engine oil is approved for the MB 229.52.

Backwards compatible

The MB 229.52 specification is fully backwards compatible with the MB 229.51 and MB 229.31 specifications for all Mercedes diesel engines with DPF.

Summary:

  • The MB 229.52 specification applies to all Mercedes vehicles equipped with “BlueTEC” diesel engines with SCR.
  • Oils with this spec have to flow better when cold, for less friction and more fuel economy.
  • The OFFICIALTECH 5W30 C3 is approved for this specification and others, making it one of the most technologically advanced lubricants in the market.
